Since 1975, the Women’s Committee of Aransas County Medical Services, Inc., affectionately known by many as
“The little ol’ ladies in tennis shoes”, have been running an amazing race.................... lap after lap, they have stayed the course. They have worked behind the scenes, and were instrumental in founding Aransas County Medical Services, Inc.
The “Ladies in Tennis Shoes” have held raffles, trash & treasure sales, fashion shows, and their renowned annual Christmas Bazaar every November. They also operate a gift and handcraft shop; “The Enterprise Boutique”, all to benefit the EMS.
These “Ladies in Tennis Shoes” have stayed the course to provide a vital service to the citizens of Aransas County....running tirelessly, in their well respected tennis shoes, they have demonstrated their dedication and commitment. In relay-style fashion, they now reach out to the community to carry out their efforts....... across the finish line.

“Our Mission shall be one of providing the highest quality prehospital care that is both cost effective and beneficial to the Communities we serve.”
Aransas County Emergency Medical Servicesis a sophisticated emergency prehospital care and transport system serving the citizens and visitors of Aransas County. We operate and are governed by a “Volunteer” Board of Directors comprised of local business leaders, local governmental representatives, and concerned individuals. We began providing ambulance coverage to the citizens of Aransas County over thirty years ago, on January 15, 1977. When we began operations, we started as a “Private” and “Non-Profit” organization and remain classified as a 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization.
Community Growth: Aransas County as a whole, including the City of Rockport and the Town of Fulton have experienced phenomenal growth. This growth is projected to continue into the foreseeable future, with new and larger housing subdivisions being built in many areas of the county. Until the early 1990’s, ACMSI responded to an average of approximately 1,000 calls per year. Now we are responding to well over 3,000 calls per year. To keep pace with the increasing call volume, we have had to increase the number of personnel as well as the number of ambulances we own.
This growth, the increases in call volume, more ambulances, and more medics to staff the ambulances, has led to severe overcrowding for the EMS facility. We are working out of a building that was built in 1982, with office space for four medics, and barn space for two ambulances. As you can imagine, with over twenty full time medics and five ambulances, we are bursting at the seams. The new building that we are proposing is shown in the painting above. With the construction of this new facility, we plan to follow the national standard for EMS agencies as well as Fire Departments, and provide sleeping quarters for our personnel. This will allow us to hire additional personnel and also to have all of our personnel respond from the same central location.
Aransas County EMS appreciates your support in the construction of our new building. If you or your organization would like to make a donation/pledge, checks should be made payable to:
